I just checked my account and my upgrade cleared for my flight to LAX on Friday! WooHoo! This hasnt happen "on schedule" on my flights to the West Coast for many months. Do you think I could get lucky enough to have my wife's silver EUA clear as well?

No rhyme or reason
There is no predictable pattern, especially for silver and golds like me. One flight FC was clear as day, and I thought it was a slam dunk. No dice. The flight back was crammed weeks in advance and I got the "battlefield" EUA. One never knows...
Good luck - hope you both end up getting it!

You have to remember that many folks follow these definitions:
"EUA is working" = "I got my upgrade"
"EUA is broken" = "I had to sit in coach" (regardless of the reason)
I'm 100% on upgrades this year so I guess "EUA is working".

My weekend trip:
Segment 1: EUA cleared 5 days out
Segment 2: EUA cleared 4 days out
Segment 3: EUA cleared 5 days out
Segment 4: EUA cleared 5 days out
----------------------------------
Average: 4.75 days out
Looks like EUA is busted again!

It figures that my 3 day out EUA worked as advertised for a pleasure trip to the West Coast but my upgrades to SFO or LAX when travelling for work process day of travel if at all.
What can ya do? Maybe I will get triple lucky by having my wife upgraded as well AND fly on one of the new -800s with the winglets!
