Strange EUA time?

Had a V class seat on IAH-SFO on 8/17 turn into R around 7pm on 8/14. Any explanation?

(I am Gold Elite, and expected EUA to run last night around midnight).

My guesses are:
1. I was manually upgraded due to a full coach cabin (doubtful, ITN shows Y9)
2. EUA now runs more frequently, including every time Revenue Management releases more R
3. EUA runs 72 hours prior to flight, not around midnight as it used to
4. I shouldn't ask and just be thankful for the upgrade.

The EUA computer is an old desktop machine that runs under Gordo's desk. My vote is for:

5. Gordo hit the power switch on it before leaving the office on Friday while muttering "those damn Elites" with a big Texas grin. Then, some IT guy caught the problem this afternoon and broke into his office to boot it back up while muttering "that damn Gordo."

From what I can tell you got upgraded a bit late. Midnight on the 14th is when it 1st should have happened. Flight is on the 17th and gold upgrade comes 3 days prior (16th,15th,14th.) After that it just depends how often the system runs.

how about just being thankful for the upgrade? why the analysis? why does it matter when you were upgraded in the whole scheme of things?

Maybe because they tell us a set of rules, and then yank us around, and we, as customers, feel that it is reasonable to be told a straight story. Just for once.

Maybe someone canceled and made a seat available for you to get upgraded.

Be grateful, it was a gift! No need to question if it was given soon or fast enough!

It looks like they've changed the time for the EUAs. I received an EUA at 6pm PDT for a 10pm PDT redeye this Friday. In the past, this would have happened sometime last night, just after 12:01 a.m. central time.

I'm a lowely Silver, and was recently EUA'ed more than 24 hours (about 28-30 hours) before my TPA-CLE flight. My fare class was 'B,' would that explain the early upgrade?

Ted Striker: I love the handle. Does anyone know if there's a George Zip or Captain Oveur on FlyerTalk?
