Earlier Check in - does it affect EUA??

Clueless newbie question here. Does EUA behave any differently if you've checked in or not? Just wondering if anyone has ever thought about that.

No. There are several discussions on this if you do a search.

It's hard to imagine a subject bearing on the the possibility of increasing/decreasing the chance of an upgrade that ain't been thought of and discussed in this forum.

...and as the other threads show, I respectfully disagree --I feel that checking in online will improve your odds of getting an upgrade if the automated upgrades haven't kicked in yet.

I concur. As a gold, I've gotten battlefield upgrades on el-cheapo fares several times when I was the first or second person to check in. I have no proof that early checkin was contributory, though.

The question was about EUA and how it works, not how to increase your odds of getting upgraded.

from previous posts, and from co.com i have concluded that checking in early does not affect EUA.

whether checked in or not, the last EUA (ran at the three hour mark) upgrades elites by level, fare class and time of purchase.

once the 3 hour mark has passed, gate agents will assign any unclaimed seats (most likely no shows for one reason or another) by elite level and check-in time. fare classses and time of purchase do not come into play after the last EUA.

so, online check-in helps in the "gate assigned" upgrade process and should never affect the EUA system, although i have heard that this is not a foolproof system.
