Bucks stop here!

Simplified pricing has arrived at CO. Don't know about everyone else but it makes paid FC much more attractive.

Nice FC fares, but those coach fares seem awfuly steep. $299 e/w IAH-SEA with 7-day advance purchase? I think WN's highest, unrestricted fare is $299 each way.

or maybe it's called How to put a stop to EAU

paying folks mean less status upgrades available I would think
Are we getting "enhanced" again?

You get what you pay for. Since when does CO have to give away FC.

Thumbs down

Seats are limited and may not be available on all flights or in all markets. Tickets must be purchased at time of reservation and are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Changes to ticket can be made for a $100 change fee, if meeting the restrictions plus applicable fare difference.

This isn't a change in the way CO does business. They just added another capacity controlled fare bucket. Reminds me of when CO wouldn't honor their seat guarantee for Plats. Wanted me to buy the FC seat because those were available but choach was sold out. Shouldn't be long before you see posts about full Y seats available, but these new walk up fares are not.

These new fares are not walk-up fares. They are 7 day advance purchase fares.

Sorry, my mistake, I saw this line as I was scanning the article:

For example, Continental continues to offer advance purchase fares between New York and some Florida cities for less than $100 each way in Coach, and walkup fares requiring no advance purchase linking Cleveland and Houston with some West Coast cities for less than $500 each way.

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040623/daw018_1.html

Advance purchase? Even less of a value.....

Since when does anyone need to give CO their business? If upgrades go away, given the general "competitiveness" (laugh) of the rest of OnePass...why exactly would anyone fly them?

Isn't reduced fares - one way and FC fares - the reason CO dropped America West as a partner? Is CO now headed in the direction of copying their fare structure?

Well, you can't blame them for trying to get more business.

Seems like they are damned if they do something new or damned if they don't on this board.

this is a reduction?

i remember last year when EWR-SFO had a special roundtrip Y fare for about $950 including tax, and with the elite upgrade on ticketing, it was like buying an F seat.

So this doesn't seem like a great deal in my market.

from 7th largest to 6th???

aside from the $100 difference in fares from Y to F, i noticed that CO is now calling themselves the 6th largest airline in the world, rather than 7th. what happened? AF/KLM?

Looks like those advertised Y fares are just that - full Y. I was looking at an IAH-BWI ticket. It priced out at around $660 in full Y, and I was offered an immediate upgrade. The upgrade, plus the bonus points, make this not such a bad deal after all...
