Upgrades
Is this another CO web site anomaly?
Yesterday (Friday) I purchased a RT ERW-BOS in Economy departing Monday. The return was upradable hence the "U" next to it on the web site. No such "U" on the outbound. I'm a Plat. and no EUM last night. This evening (Saturday) I viewed the itinerary online and the "U" appeared next to the outbound which was not there Friday so I grabbed it.
Could it be reservations were cancelled or changed in F so the computer saw the "U" availability on my fare code or is this an anomaly? More curious than anything.

More likely, a couple seats were released into the upgrade pool, but it happened after EUA ran last night. Had they still been available tonight, EUA would have assigned it to you anyway, but better to grab them since you were checking.

Thanks. Given my low automatic upgrade % who knows these days. At this point I am suspicious of everything in regards to upgrades or rewards. Everything for free is a battle. not very rewarding.

U stands for Y class upgrades. The reasonable explanation is that your flight did not have any 1st class seats available at the time of booking, and some seats were released afterwards. Maybe someone held them but never purchased them. It's not about seat being released for upgrades as Y class Elite can get the upgrade from any 1st class pool.
