If you can't, you can usually swap them out for a fresh pair from the FA.

The official name is "state-of-the-art headset."
With that said, they're cheap and functional. I'm sure any regular CO flyer would be happy to gift you one (or 40!) if you're in need of a headset.

They're waaay better than NW's headsets (I've got a few, okay, like 20, did you want some?). That's for sure. Although, if you do travel pretty frequently and enjoy the on-board entertainment, I'd suggest you invest in a real pair of headphones.

They are pretty bad actually. They'll do in a pinch, sure...but compared to your own headphones...these are state-of-the-art like an original Sony Walkman is now state-of-the-art.
If you bring your own headphones, be sure to stop by Radio Shack and ask for an airline splitter. CO uses 2 mono jacks. You will need a splitter that has two mono male plugs that lead to a single stereo female plug which you will then plug your headphones into...a couple bucks at most.

here is my question though... it was on a domestic 767 flight. do the 767 and 777 have better sound systems than the other aircraft or do the headphones that i took from my MP3 player (little ones that fit in your ear and are not very expensive) work that much better than the ones CO passes out.

I don't like the domestic, clip over your ear, CO headseats at all. I can never seem to hear through both sides unless I continually press the plug and hold it into the receiver. Anyone else have this problem?

better than nothing
I actually like them. But they are pretty cheaply built.
As far as headsets go, I think the CO ones are much more comfortable than the UA ones.
As for the jacks not always working, I have trouble about 25% of the time.
Remember having to adjust the antenna to tune in a TV? Same feeling. If I twist the cord 3 loops and lean on it.....
On a separate subject.. I have tried a bunch of different noise cancelling headphones recently (plane quit, brookstone) and have not been happy with any of them EXCEPT the Bose system. Any other thoughts?

previous post mentioned a radio shack splitter... excellent advice. combine that with a pair of eshure or sony "softs" and you'll find an extremely comfortable and effective solution. but the clincher is the combined package takes up a fraction of the size/space as the small co headsets do. infact in a trouser pocket you'll hardly notice they're there.

I probably have 20 unopened headsets. Send me an email and I'll mail you some.

CO is not the only one with "state of the art" headphones. DL passes out the same ones except they include the "2 mono jack" adapter with theirs. I guess some of their aircraft use the have one jack systems. they suck just as bad as CO's.
what really gets me, is that they still use those air tube headphones that i used to get on Eastern airlines in the 80's. i got them on a brand new 767 not to long ago. i would bet that those are more expensive then the newer ones.
