cc benefit question?

I have a Continental cc but I didn't use it for the purchase of my airfare. I prefer my SPG card. Am I still eligible for all the benefit (priority boarding, free check bag, etc) that comes with it? Or must I have to purchase the airfare with it to take advantage of all the benefits? I read their contract detail and it only mention 'cardholder' but never the need to use it.

No purchase required

That's right - just having the card gets you the perks. You do not need to use it to buy the ticket. Do be sure your FF# is on the record of course, so it can link with the card and recognize you as entitled to the perks.

The free checked bag benefit does state that you must use the card to buy the ticket. The others just require having the card.
