Thoughts on Seating Master Thread and Newbie Lounge?
I was just looking for the best seat on PMCO 738 F, and realized that there's no master thread for asking about specific planes like the PMUA forum has. It's a question that's been asked many times, so I didn't think it was starting yet another thread. But it was surprisingly difficult to search.
What are peoples' thoughts about helping out to make master threads for the different PMCO aircraft, as I know that the 772 also gets a lot of questions, for example.
The other is a newbie thread. A thread that people can ask basic questions on PMCO that come up a lot, I guess similar to the Consolidated Ask Anything thread in the combined forum.
Any thoughts? I'd be glad to do some of the work, knowing that there will be help.
And what's the best seat?! Flying EWR-ORD, and every seat is available. Never had the bulkhead, so not sure if it's better or worse. (Is the TV mounted?) Otherwise, I have 2A for now

Newbie lounge, though... do we really need a PMCO newbie lounge, given that PMCO is gonna be gone in a couple of months? Those questions (and answers) should go in the combined forum, where there is already a forum for them.

I agree, but that means whoever starts the thread needs to update the OP, OR mods need to, though it's quite unfair of us to ask even more of the mods, especially now.
Regarding newbie lounge, PMCO will be around for a while. Until they really are 1 airline, meaning 1 fleet of a/c, 1 set of policies, etc. there will still be PMCO and PMUA flights.

Both PMUA and PMCO aircraft are getting seat mods this year so why not just make a new consolidated thread for the combined carrier -- 'What's the best seat 2012 and on edition'?

But I highly highly recommend you keep the first posts open so that you can edit. And that you're committed (like the Marriott meet-up thread or lounge access on weekends) to keeping it up to date.
The UA threads are so old and filled with annoying "newbie" posts about items besides seating that they're hard to figure out. (Mine was best C in p.s. - turns out it's Row 9).

I support both of these. And would help you with reading over the newbie lounge. Just make sure that things beyond "newbie" are simply references to other threads. ("Plan B", Amtrak, FFCC, etc).

How could I not keep the OP open? I assume I could always edit it unless the thread is locked by a mod.
Also, I don't necessarily need to be the one to start each thread. For example, I have no clue the first thing about any of the regional jets. I'm much more familiar with the 772.
And with newbie, it would be very similar to the one in the consolidated forum where people are free to ask anything, and get answered by anyone who can jump in.

Well this ironic! By Amtrak, I assume you refer to the Amtrak partnership for ZFV routes. But I have no idea what "Plan B" or FFCC is.

2. I would think someone has to start them all to make sure all get done. If we wait for someone to step up without the mods, some will be chaotic.
3. If we have such a newbie thread now, and it's as chaotic as the one you reference, I see no benefit to another one. We need one to point to specifically (like the old CO FAQ) for newbie questions.
