2011 FEQM for 1K?

Hi all

I read about the changes a while back where you can't use FEQMs to hit 1K, only Platinum and below. Does this apply for 2011 earning as well? I have about 10k FEQMs, and I may end this year with about 96k EQMs. If I apply enough to hit the 100k threshold, will I qualify for 1K? If so, by when do I have to do this? Dec 31 or Jan 31?

Thanks,

Jon

You should be able to do this under the 2011 rules to qualify for 1K -- you have until December 31st. Next year, you can only qualify up to Plat (75k) using FEQMs. You must ride 100K BIS Miles for 1K (that means no FEQMs would apply to your qualification for 1K.

Is this confirmed?

Or can I get to 60K, burn 15K FEQMs and then fly another 25K?

Pretty sure UA Insider posted this somewhere - IF you are to be a 1K, your 100K EQM must not contain any FEQM.

I think in your example, you'd still need to fly another 40K to get 1K. What I'm not clear on is if you did 85K flown and 15K FEQM, would you still get 2 RPUs?

+1. This is definitely confirmed by UA Insider.

Just to confirm, this approach is valid in the 2011 calendar year for 2012 status?

I understand this will not work in 2012 to requalify for 2013 status.

Good question, as the EQM balance would clearly reflect the 100K EQMs, collectively! Afterall, if one applies the FEQMs (before 75K), -- not knowing whether they will fly the remaining EQMs to reach 100k, -- it's not like the EQM total won't reflect the incremental earned EQMs!

wait what do I do with my FEQM's

I have 110,000 FEQM's and I will be a 2 million mile man which gets me Platnium for life. I accumulate about 6 thousand FEQM's a month. Now that I can't use them for 1K, the Presidential Card and FEQM's are no good to me,

I guess I will have to cancel my card and get use My AMEX starwood card....Do I have any choice?

It doesn't sound like you needed FEQMs to being with! Sadly they are not transferable! So, the only true bennie for you (w/this card) is the PC membership!

I sent an email to the insider @coair.com address and asked this question. I was told that FEQM could qualify me for 1K this year.

Sorry for the ignorance, but can someone explain what the FEQM acronym means. I generally get the CO lingo, but haven't heard this one.

Thanks.
