Does XN class include X?

Apologies for the confusing thread title! Want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. If I am trying to waitlist an economy segment in a reward booking, and I request it in XN (Plat only availability) class, does this mean that XN will automatically become available if X becomes available?

I want to make sure I'm not limiting it in some way, and just X opens up but the waitlist doesn't clear.

Thanks!

My understanding is that X is a subset of XN and that I is a subset of O so that there are no scenarios where a non-elite seat will open but an elite one will not.
