Simple Question
Remember I am a newbie so I dont know...
If I book a economy ticket and pay for it, and use my miles to get uprgraded and the upgrade goes through, do I still get miles for the flight since in essence I still paid for the economy ticket?

Yes, you earn the miles based on the fare paid. So you'd still earn the economy miles even though you flew in the forward cabin.
