changes to partner award on co.com
i have an international one way award on star alliance airlines booked on co.com
i want to change the dates, last time i tried with a similar ticket it would not let me change online. Due to my location it is hard to call and I don't want to use skype.
Should i just cancel the existing ticket online and book another one with the new dates? Will the miles just be redeposited and my CC refunded for the taxes? I am CO Platinum.
thanks

I would rebook the 2nd ticket, and then cancel the existing ticket online. Miles and taxes would be refunded automatically.

Miles 'might' be returned as soon as you have cancelled, but might take upto 24hrs. On another note, there would be charges IIRC, $150 to redeposit the miles back, unless
1) The booking was done in less than 24hrs or
2) You are a Platinum or higher at OnePass.

The OP is Platinum. It's noted in his original post.

I'm in a similar situation. I cancelled a reward ticket on CO.com. They seem to be able to take miles and charge credit card instantaneously but giving back seems to be another issue and it's been over a week and more like two... looks like another call to the OPSC
I wonder how many issues they will handle on one phone call.

I was similarly confused on this for quite a while and usually had to call until I realized that it is a two step process to cancel and refund an award ticket online. First, you need to cancel the ticket (I assume you did this with little problem), second you need to click the "Refund/Redeposit" link in the inactive reservation. After completing part two, your miles should be returned relatively quickly, IME.
