Question Buy now or later?

I'm planning a vacation to GUM in late November. Do you think I should book my tix now? Or wait until after the new changes go into effect? (In other words, do you see these gauge changes affecting ticket price? ?)

Specifics: I'm planning to go NYC-GUM and route either via NRT or HNL. It would appear that with the upcoming changes, I'll lose the 764 between HNL and GUM, and instead be put onto a UA777. One would "think" that the upgauge might lead to lower ticket prices, right? However, that would seem at odds with Mr. Smisek and PMCO's revenue management history. Therefore, perhaps I should purchase my ticket this week and then anticipate a change-in-gauge email to arrive next week?

I can't answer you in terms of price. But in late November, you will start competing with holiday traffic to and from GUM. A lot of the military families leave GUM for several weeks about that time. It is also a good time for many relatives of military families to go visit for the holidays and weather. For this reason, many of the flights end up being sold out. Now it is only April and you have plenty of time, but if you want to take a popular flight, such as a Saturday HNL-GUM, the earlier you book the better.

+1. I doubt fares will come down for that route unless there is true competition from Delta. I'd book now and hope you get an int'l config UA777
