DirecTV on the bulkhead rows

Is it more difficult to see than in a regular seat?

It's farther away, so in that respect yes. Is it significantly harder to see? I think that all depends on your eyesight.

The monitor is mounted slightly higher than it would be in the seatback, so it's closer to eye level if you're tall.

I'm on a 737-800 CLE-SFO tomorrow equipped with directv. Just got upgraded to first row 1.

Is the directv located on the bulkhead or in the armrest?

Neither, technically. It's on an attachment under your seat.

But recommend moving to Row 2 or later. Can't watch DirecTV on takeoff landing and on the runways waiting to takeoff.

My last few 738 flights had DTV screens mounted on the bulhead of either class. I don't quite understand what you are refering to that "DTV is an attachment under the seat"

Connected to the bulkhead also means that the screens work all the time.

Not true. At least IME, the 738 (the one that features 16 F seats and 144 Y seats, starting with row 7...), has the DTV monitor for row 1 (and I believe row 7 also) mounted on the wall (or bulkhead if you prefer) in front of you. It is NOT in the armrest, and you CAN watch during takeoff and landing.

I stand corrected - confused it with the int'l IFEs!

DTV is on the bulkhead in front of you.

Which ones? The 767s have the system in the armrest for all seats, not just the bulkhead, and the 772s/752s have the PTV mounted for all seats, including the bulkhead.

The 752s do not in row 7 (there is no bulkhead). Likewise for row 32 on 772s.

Same for row 16 on the 772, as well as every ELR row in Y. I was referring to BF. (When you wrote Int. IFE, I somehow read F, so I only referred to BF).

On the 752s and 772s, bulkhead IFE systems are mounted in BF and in the armrest in Y in the bulkhead and exit row.
On the 767s, all IFE systems in BF are in the armrest, and also in the armrest for ELR seats in Y.
While I'm at it...
737s with DTV, all TVs are mounted in the bulkhead.

753s (as well as some, still unconverted 737s) have overhead monitors.
