Good news. Are you sure that it was because of the Chase OPP card and not because that Y was overbooked?

I just pulled the flight. First class is now sold out but coach still has seats. The flight was upgraded 24 hours and 10 minutes prior to departure. Booking code was X (even though it was from my platinum account) and now is showing in R.

Do you show up as upgraded on the PDA site?

Yes I do!

I hope we can get EUAs as well.

As an update the return flight did not clear and I was not added to the airport standby list so it must only work in EAU and not on the battlefield

I wonder where a free ticket EUA fits into the priority mix.

According to the OP by CO Insider it's by status after all the paid fare classes. So a plat on an award ticket would be higher than a gold on a paid (excluding YB)

So disregarding YB priority it would be?

Paid Plat
Mileage Plat
Paid Gold
Mileage Gold
...

I'm curious where the UA elites fit in (although rather trivial now with the match capability)

Being a total noob with CO upgrades I'm also curious if there is anything award ticket pax can do to help their odds of scoring the EUA (Check in early, split PNRs, etc.) ala UA.

I've got EWR-FLL award flights coming up with a non-status companion on the same PNR later this month. Also curious about how you use the pda site to track waitlists (apologies for the rookie questions :o).

Splitting the reservation is always the best way to score an upgrade. Checking in early will not help as only EAU recognizes the upgrades the airport standby list does not although I assume that will be fixed eventually.

Also having the Chase card seems to be key here.

I have my mom flying (trying) down to Costa Rica on an award ticket and when re-routing after several delays today asked if she could be put on the upgrade stand by list as she was flying with a plats miles, the elite gal told me that is only available for chase card holders.

Does splitting give at least one of us a chance versus little or no chance for both of us? I wouldn't mind one of us getting the UG if it was that or neither of us getting it (I'd give the F seat to my GF of course...).

Called the elite line yesterday and confirmed that Award ticket EUA is only for holders of one of the two CO affiliated credit cards.
