If you are the primary cardholder (miles go into your account) of a chase pp card any ticket you book from your account will be eligible for the EUA as of now based on your current elite status.
1. a Chase PP card in your name 2. a Platinum or Gold Elite membership (does Silver count?) |

Have Presidential Plus - not getting upgrade for award tickets
I am CO gold and have Presidential Plus card. My son have been upgrade on award ticket in April. So, I know upgrade for award ticket is real and possible. Tomorrow my son is on an award. This time he is not on the wait list. 90% of CO employees I spoke today don't even know that award tickets can be upgrade. They all want me to give them more miles. The one who understand won't even put him wait list.
Help !!! What should or can I do to rectify the situation? |
Got recently upgraded at 48hr mark on EWR-SEA standard award.
1) I am Gold 2) I have standard Chase one pass credit card (not pres.plus) 3) It was standard award Maybe #3 was the key in my case? The flight left with 1 open seat in F, which was really surprising for transcon. In Y, every seat was occupied. |
Still not on upgrade list
Flying tomorrow w/ SO (Prem Ex.) on saver award, MSY-iah-ABQ, used Chase One Pass Plus for taxes. Was told:
last night: You're on the upgrade list, don't worry This morning (after noticing that I wasn't on the list) - You should be on the list, but to do so we have to split the record. We did so. After 50 minutes on the phone was told "well, it will take about another 10 minutes, so don't worry you'll be added" Checked a few minutes ago. Still not on the list. Called and was told "The record shows that you'll be added to the upgrade list at the airport (when there aren't any F seats left). Asked for a supervisor. Mr. B said it's a glitsch in the system and there's nothing he can do. He also said it was probably because there were no seats available - said I realized that I might not get the upgrade, my concern was not being on the upgrade list. Mentioned the April Memo saying such award tickets were eligible for EUA and shouldn't have to wait until the airport to get on the upgrade list. He agreed, but there's nothing he can do. This is a classic case of modest damage to many people. CO is not doing what they said they would do and their position seems to be "oh well..." It would make a good class action lawsuit... At least I was able to get thru on the phone each time after a minute or two and the phone system recoqnized my UA 1K #. All the people were polite, the morning phone agent, Ms. B, tried really hard for almost an hour. This is a huge waste of CO resources and false and deceptive advertising (that award tickets can be upgraded). |

When you are on the same record as someone else not eligible for upgrade, it makes you ineligible unless you split the record. Thats likely why you werent on the list. Though i am surprised it took so long to get you on the list once they split the record.
Both myself (1K) and my SO (Prem Ex) are eligible. Both of us have the OnePass Plus card. Neither of us made the upgrade list. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this is one of those CO only benefits. You have to use your CO OP# in conjunction with the OnePass Plus card in order to receive the benefit. It appears from previous posts that you were trying to receive this benefit while using your UA MP #. |
Now that this is allowed, I really wish I could burn my SWUs on reward travel. I booked my MIL on a URC>PEK>EWR trip.
It would be nice for her to make the PEK>EWR leg in BuinessFirst, but I'm not about to shell out the miles for that to happen. Would burn two SWUs, though. |
Thanks for good suggestion

My SO's OP # was not on the Boarding Pass, but it showed Elite Access. The OP # had been entered when the original award reservation was made. Apparently when the record was split the OP # was dropped. I just added my SO's OP # back into to the split off pnr and now the OP # shows on the record and the Boarding pass. On both tickets had entered our CO status. We did a status match a few months back. Used my 1K # (have memorized it) to get into the elite phone system, but not for anything else.. Just checked and we're still not on the Upgrade standby list, so there's some other glitsch, but your constructive suggestion is appreciated. |

Then yes I agree, great benefit in theory, but very poorly implemented. |

So what is policy on this, my fiance and I are traveling DFW-IAH-RDU on saturday. She is on a reward I am on revenue. Recieved my eua yesterday and called about hers, was told that it is only for primary cardholder when I am on a reward. Funny thing is that eua upgrade notice went via email to my fiances email with my conf number. Don't know if its because we are on the same flight or what. Any advice, tried 2 agents same response. Not worth upgrading for 25k more for just a one hour flight, but would be nice for both of us to be up front, or else I will be in the back. Might be able to try at airport but would like to try and get this accomplished beforehand.
