UDU on CO
Booked CO lfights on UA.com. When I pull up the reservation on Continental.com should I expect to see something like I would on
UA.com like "upgrade pending". I don't see that? S/O and me are
both UA 1K? Are we automatically in an upgrade queue?

No, there is no "pending" or any other indication.

So long as you can freely choose exit row seats it is seeing your status correctly. There is no other indication.

would certainly be nice but there is absolutely no necessity for it and failure to upgrade will not cause unhappiness nor ill feelings. Thanks for your responses.

"Exit row seats for me always mean that an upgrade "
Unfortunately not on Continental...but you do have a chance.

Nothing shows up, but you can see the upgrade list 48h prior if your upgrade hasn't cleared yet. Go to CO.com, check flight status and then click on the upgrade standby list tab.
If you want to improve your chances, get your status matched on CO using this. You'll get Platinum which will get you above other 1Ks and GSs on your flight (this is the order by which upgrades clear on UA and CO).

Question, when does the upgrade list show up reveal itself? 7 days prior?

You will show up on the upgrade list once you do OLCI @ the 24hr mark (unless you were checked through, earlier on your itinerary). Just look at 'flight status' & click on the 'upgrade standby list'! GL!^

How do you know if/when your upgrade clears prior to the 48 hour flight status upgrade standby list?

As a CO gold, I know I can get upgraded up to 3 days prior to departure. Is CO usually pretty good about processing upgrades at the 72 hour mark on the dot or is there a bit of give/take either way?

It really does depend on your routing & time of day, though!

Big ol' +1 to my right honorable friend's analysis. Upgrades are all over the map at the moment. I've been upgraded at 5 days out, 3 days out, 2 days out and at the gate. CO will hold to the last second it can if it believes that it can sell the seats. Just the way of things ....
