[QUOTE=Phudnik;16059074]For UA and CO flights, the proper course of action is clear: credit UA flights to UA and CO flights to CO, unless you think the UA flights will help you reach 1 million EQM on CO before the end of the year.

Thanks for the clarification. And re the 1 million EQM.... you mean lifetime miles? what happens if you get that?

You are given at least silver status for the lifetime of the program. This post from the CO Forum FAQ is a concise summary of the benefits for people who have flown that much.

Bear in mind that there have been no announcements about the shape of the merged program's million-miler program. UA counts only actual flown miles on UA metal, whereas CO counts all EQM. It is not yet clear which definition (if either) will be the surviving one.

Status match to CO Platinum from UA 1K completed after I had 4 flights booked on CO dot com.

Saw advice somewhere to remove the CO FF number from the flights, then put it back in so my new status would be recognized by EUA.

True? And if so, why doesn't the CO website let me remove the FF number? It puts it right back in.

Also one flight is on UA metal and CO won't accept the UA FF number and UA won't let me book E+ on that flight because it has a CO FF number (that was input before the status match cleared.)

What should I do to fix this? TIA.

Hence, I'm thinking there is no reason for me to merge accounts. I will just continue to point miles to CO until the merger folks merge the accounts. Make sense?

You really dont lose anything by matching your status to UA Elite.
Just in case you have to fly UA this year, you can use that status.

Thanks. That makes sense, and in fact I may fly United to Cincinnati in May.

Hello Mr. njcommodore,

Thank you for your email.

Members who match to 1K in our program based on Continental status will not be eligible for the quarterly Regional upgrades. They will be eligible to earn Regional upgrades after 75,000 Elite Qualifying miles and for every 25,000 Elite Qualifying miles after during 2011.

If you want to change your decision and make Continental your primary carrier, please let us know right away as it has to be reversed by tomorrow.

It is my pleasure assisting you,
Melissa

I'm thinking I'll switch back to CO, since that's where 99% of my flying is.

Thoughts?

This makes sense because wasn't this benefit created for 2010 1K's when the number of CR1's they would receive in 2011 was reduced during the program changes in the fall?

I still haven't merged accounts but I'll probably stick with CO as the primary carrier. If I am not mistaken this still allows you to transfer miles back and forth and still allows you to use your UA MP# for upgrade purposes. I don't see any benefit in choosing UA over CO as the primary except for maybe a GS/PP.

How long does it take for the new MP status to show on the website after merging accounts?

Generally 2-3 days. Some people have waited much longer...
Matched MP status seems to post earlier than matched CO status according to FTers reports.

^ Perfect primer. I just merged 2 accounts to Continental because I had 7000 redemable miles on United which a got for a complaint last year.

No downside to merging the accounts as far as I can tell, but if you're never going to fly UA then it would be neutral to do either way.
