Farelock and Upgrade Availability

Farelock and Upgrade Availability
I'm trying to book a ticket for 3 adults and infant in a reserved seat for a trip next month.
I was able to find a combination of departing and arriving flights both with auto-upgrade opportunities.
Now, at the Review Trip Itinerary screen, it has us listed on BusinessFirst as it normally would, and I'm getting the Farelock option below it. My question is, does Farelocking only lock-in the "S" fare or whatever economy fare that we are upgrading from, or will it also "hold" the availability of the upgrade for that span of time? I'm hoping for the latter but I'm afraid that's too good to be true.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
