Interesting EUA Question
Someone mentioned this to me and I thought I would see what you all thought...take March 1 for example---the day where many individuals will have their elite status changed. If an individual was eligible for an upgrade on February 26, would the system know to utilize the March 1 status given that the old status is in the system?

My understanding is that it processes based on the status at the time of the sweep. This means that a platinum elite dropping to nothing could still be upgraded on 2/28 for a flight on 3/4 even though they won't have status then.
Really not a big deal IMO.

an upgrade 5 days out? they don't seem to happen very often.

You'd be missing out to someone who has the status at the time it was processed. Nearly everyone is likely to be in that situation at some point and has an equal chance of benefiting from it in the future and since CO is holding back all the upgrades to sell for ToDs anyways it doesn't really matter, right? 
I'm willing to bet that the number of instances where this is really an issue is not statistically significant enough to worry about.
Then it is even less of a big deal, right??

It's of small interest to me. I'm dropping from Gold to nothing on Tuesday...same day I travel IAH to SNA. So, if a sweep pushes me into first tomorrow, I'm happy. I'll be back up to Gold in May and then it won't matter at all anymore. I'm glad to see the conversation. We'll see what happens.

WAIT . . . we get upgrades on United flights??? I was totally unaware of (the reality) of this. I know we got emails and annoucements saying that we get upgrades on United flights, I just thought we were on Punk'd.

I'm dropping from Gold to Silver Tuesday, just booked 8 segments while still gold to get emergency......got 21c on all of them, and 1a on the embrarer.
I fly 3/3, interesting to see how the upgrade list plays out.
I should re-hit silver by late April 2012, and be gold again by the end of the year, not loving the drop!
