Connection time do-able??

looking at a flight out of grand rapids michigan to liberia costa rica-it has a stop at iah with a 50 minute connection. Is this enough time-I am used to traveling through detroit airport but Continental has better flight times and I do not want to do DTW to ATL to Lir if possible

50 minutes is doable if you hustle, and your ExpressJet flight is not delayed. I would try to get on an earlier flight if possible.

Made a 29min IAH connection with about 20min to spare last week. You'll need on-time flight karma, but should be easily doable.

Just depends on your ability to tolerate stress. It SHOULD be a doable connection but I once had a short IAH connection (45 min) connecting from an ERJ (as you will likely be on from GRR) that took off and arrived 20 min late. I had 15 min when getting off the plane to transfer terminals and got there after they closed the door even though the plane was still there. I try to avoid ERJ to mainline connections under an hour now...

50 minutes should be fine, provided everything runs on time. It appears that you're on the early GRR-IAH? I've had better luck with shorter ERJ-to-mainline connections with aircraft that remain overnight at the outstation (thus not as dependent on an on-time arrival of the inbound).

Agreed 100% on this, too. With plenty of opportunity for 5-10 minute delays (departure, taxi on arrival, waiting for gate/jetway operator, gate-checks), I've had enough close calls that I usually choose connections > 1 hour.
