UA Equivalent Status
I know that there has been lots of discussions on this but I have ran into the problem again. Last year a UA RCC agent showed me the upgrade list on a flight that I was on from IAD to DEN. I was on a CO ticket but on UA metal. It showed that I was *Gold, but only a Premier. I pointed out that I was a Plat and should be considered a 1K. He showed me a table the UA agents were given in training saying that Plats equal 1K, Golds equal Premier Exec, and Silvers equal Premier status. After several calls last year, I got this situation corrected and enjoyed several comp upgrades on UA flights.
However, I found out on my first flight of the year that as far as comp upgrades on UA, I am only considered *Gold which is Premier Exec status and I missed being upgraded by only a few people on both legs of my DEN to IAD flights.
I called the CO Res and OnePass desks, and they could not help. They called UA, and they were clueless.
Anyway, has an Plats out there had any success this year of being considered as a 1K on UA flights?

On UA metal, CO Plats are not considered 1Ks because there could be a CO plat with 75k EQMs and a Prem Exec with 76K. See this chart on UA.com

You are not equivalent to a 1K on UA metal for UDUs. That's not what was announced as the hierarchy and not what you should expect. On UA metal you will be behind 1Ps, just like the system had you.

I haven't had any experience with UA upgrades since joining CO joined *A and the merger. Most of my flying is done on CO to avoid issues and not worry about confusion with upgrades...And most of my flying will stay on CO metal until the merger is totally finallized and the ff programs are merged.

And for upgrades a UA 1K would be lower than a CO Plat when flying on CO metal. All will change in 2012.

Subject to availability, upgrades for OnePass Elite and Mileage Plus elite members traveling on Continental will begin to clear as early as 120 hours from departure, depending on your OnePass Elite or Mileage Plus status. Specifically, Continental Platinum Elite, United Global Services and United 1K will begin to clear up to 120 hours prior to departure. Continental Gold Elite and United Premier Executive will begin to clear up to 72 hours prior to departure. Continental Silver Elite and United Premier and will begin to clear up to 24 hours prior to departure.
By mid-2012, Elite members earning 100,000 EQMs or 120 EQPs or more will have upgrade priority over lower-earning members.
