glitch in the matrix
Think I might've benefited from some web issues when ticketing a flt today.
With an eye towards maximizing the mileage I priced out an N ticket for Feb travel, EWR>IAH>FLL with an EWR>FLL return 2 days later. Total price $336. I was surprised to say the least! Wish at the time I had used the new fare lock feature....oh well, hindsight
When I went back to alter a segment due to scheduling chgs on my end I got the msg that the chg couldnt be made on line and to call reservations. Called the elite desk and was told the chg could be made but that the new fare was $975. Was xferred over to the Web desk who also looked into it.
Web desk said they've been having issues lately with the site due to changes/improvements (chuckle) but that the $975 fare was correct based on a multi-city booking and that the computer must have hiccupped. He knew I was doing the IAH stop just for the miles and said if possible alter my schedule to work around the flights as he had never seen that routing so inexpensive (chuckle). Of course I could get a direct nonstop RT EWR>FLL for 205 but the mileage gained would be approx 1300 miles less.
What to do, what to do???!!!!^

Anyone else have website issues lately or a similiar experience?

You could fly US EWR-PHL-FLL-PHL-EWR for a few dollars extra. That would be 80+992 each way (500+992 after elite minimum) versus 1065 for the nonstop.
Of course I wouldn't advise anyone to fly on US, but if you need the miles it may be worth the pain.
