Purchasing EQM's
I read a brief discussion about this, and I am thinking of purchasing some EQM's when I fly later this week to bump up to the next elite level. How exactly does this work and what is the rough price per mile? Thanks.

My experience has been around 10+ cents per eqm.

so, if i am about 1000 miles shy of EQM, it would be better to just buy it.. correct?

MUCH MUCH cheaper to go to farecompare.com/flyertalk and do a *A search for the lowest cpm and greatest distance - do a mileage run over a weekend.

Here is the consolidated thread on this subject. There also seems to be another similar thread down the page:

You will have to purchase the equivalent of the route you are flying - for example, if the route is 2134 miles, you will need to buy both offers and you will receive the that number of EQMs. You can't opt for a different value, say the 1000 that you need.

Find a route with the amount of miles you need. You shouldn't have to overpay. That being said, the price is going up by the day it seems!
