Upgrade for 2012

CO has introduced a new benefit, regional upgrade for 2011. the certificates are valid for one year. so as they are earned when one crosses the 75K and then 100K, one can get 4 RU certificates.

Those will be used in probably 2012 when the CO and UA fleet merged.
It is all good and great.. but.

but UA 1k get 12 RU certificates for 100K of flying comparing to 100k flying of CO elites who are getting only 4 RU. Those certs will be valid on all CO/UA fleet as they are merging. so. we are going to get short-changed completely, is my reasoning corrected?

The programs haven't officially merged they are only moving closer. If they offered 12 RU's to CO, the merged carrier would likely have to offer 12 without causing an uproar. By offering CO elites 4 it places them in a strategic position to offer anywhere between 4-12 once it is one program.

CO elites are getting short changed on numerous levels and UA elites are getting short changed on numerous levels

...such is reality in this lovely merger

they are offering 12 RUs to UA that will be used on the merged carrier. so. it is only fair to offer the same 12 RUs to CO. i think.

The difference is that we've always had the chance to earn 8 in a year before, in as little as 40K miles (10K UA BIS miles per quarter), but of course 1Ks are flying a lot more than that.

People were PO'd because you had people trying to reach 1K this year and were thinking next year would be under the old earning rules (instead of pulling a fast one, as is becoming common). So instead of having two sets of earning rules, they combined them for UA 1Ks - I don't think anyone was expecting that, we would have been fine with our original 8.

This gives 1Ks a full year to evaluate the "new" program but still earn under the old rules. Might delay a lot of ship-jumping.

Ok,

So who is going to coordinate this? Is there a list to add your name to?

Also, as one poster said, we should liaise with the good like minded UA folk.

Lets put rubber to road guys.
