Picked the wrong flight to upgrade, now what?
I'm a plat traveling on an S fare EWR-IAH on Wed. I thought I chose my flight strategically for upgrade purposes by choosing CO107 on a 767. F inventory went from F7 to F0 either right before or in the first sweep of EUA's, while all other flights for the day had plenty of F inventory. So I guess it looks like a bad choice after all
Odd thing is I just looked at the upgrade standby list and 14/25 F seats were upgrades. Why would CO clear all those upgrades without leaving even revenue seats open?
The flight right after mine is a 777 with F9, so I'm guessing that might be a better shot. But I'm also guessing they will fill these seats with upgrades prior to 24 hours out. So is there any solution or am I just stuck in Y? I'm guessing it might still be better off to SDC to the 777 as if any seats open up I'd be higher on the list than 767 where it looks like no one will be EUA'd. Anything else I can do to improve my odds?

Could be B- or M-Ups who didn't clear previously. CO might as well clear those otherwise they risk selling more B- or M-ups and upgrading those people, without having upgraded those who bought tickets earlier.

You would qualify for the SDC (for free) if an S fare is available on the 777 flight beginning at 3:05 (the time of your original flight). Seatcounter has been under maintenance for some time and I do not have the KVS tool. You do have a reasonable shot I would think if you do get switched to the flight in the 3 o'clock hour since the 15 seats will probably be given away between T-24:05 and 23:57, or whenever the bulk EUAs run these days.
Also on the 777 there is a higher no show factor in F given the increased seat capacity. If an S fare is not available 24-25 hours out then you will probably be stuck waiting for the fare buckets to open up at 3 hours, which will be of little use for upgrading since these EWR-IAH flights usually have a lot of elites. Hope this helps and good luck!

I am on the 777 flight on Wednesday, no EUA for me yet on an L fare.

Well on the upside the number of F pax is down two from this morning, so 17 open seats. Also, if you don't get upgraded you get AVOD instead of the bootlegged attractions.
