Does anyone know why the CO booking tool calculates the following:

Depart:

Amsterdam, Netherlands (AMS)

Arrive:

Denver, CO (DEN)
Flight Time:
17 hr 15 mn
OnePass Miles/
Elite Qualification*:
4,824 /100%

Flight: CO59
Aircraft: Boeing 767-400ER
Fare Class: Economy (S)
Meal: Lunch
No Special Meal Offered.

1 Stop. Time on the ground in Houston, TX (IAH - Intercontinental) is 3 hours 40 minutes. Change Planes. Equipment changes in Houston, TX (IAH - Intercontinental) to a Boeing 737-800.
Change Planes. Connect time in Denver, CO (DEN) is 40 minutes.

This makes no sense. The flight to IAH is 5013 miles and the flight from IAH to DEN is 876, so why are they quoting only 4824?

Does anybody know if I will actually earn the miles flown on this route?

You have a "through flight" which will only credit the actual flown miles between AMS-DEN which is 4812-ish...You can call Continental to split the segments and pay for the extra taxes to get miles for both segments.

For 300 miles? Not worth it - unless OP is w/i 300 miles of a different status level.

Possibly worth it, depending on the amount of taxes. Splitting IAH-ANC into IAH-SEA, SEA-ANC only cost me ~$3. Oh, then you have to factor in the time getting someone at Continental to actually do it and do it right. So maybe you're right...that hassle there is almost certainly a deal breaker.

It is 1100 miles, not 300. The direct routing distance is 4824 and the connecting is 5100+875ish.

Would be worth it for me since it'd be 2,200 RDM as a Plat.
