plug for the laptop

Flew EWR IAH last week. Got upgraded on my freshly acquired platinum but that's irrelevant. The 767 has two 15v sockets for the laptop between the seats which I have never seen. The flight attendants said the passenger needs to get his own plug. What kind of plug is that? My HP uses 18 volt input I don't know if it will work even if I get one. Coming home it is a regular 737 I presume it has the regular three prong 110V AC socket but I was too tired to use the laptop.

CO just got rid of these pesky two prong earphone jacks to the normal one now this?

It's called an EmPower outlet.
You can get adapters which work with either a cigarette lighter or an empower outlet.
Some of the Igo / Targus power adapters come with the correct adapter.

The plug on the 767s is emPower. Those will go away on the 764s when they are converted to the new BF seats. Ditto for the headphone jack.

It is not now, it is the thing from past.

All 777 and 767 BF seats started with that empower adaptor, and at that time we (at least me) were all excited about it because we could use our laptop all through the flight, instead of 2-3 ours of battery capacity(especially in long flight). It was late '90.

When 777 and 757 got new AVOD system installed, they were replaced with regular 115V plug. (We were also delighted about it, and there is a thread about it.)

As sbm12 stated, 767s will be converted when they get new lie-flat bed seat, but none is done so far. (and, there is a thread about it, too.)
