Miles on Lufthansa
I know it is too early to know, but I wonder if some of you experts have any idea for the following question.
I am planning to book a flight with LH from the US to Spain. On Continental I would earn only 50% EQM on S,W fares(transatlantic). On United I would earn 100% EQM on the same fares.
I am leaving in January and the outbound flight is in V class, no issue there. The return in March is either a S or W fare.
Now here is the million $$$ question. Do you think the new United FF program will keep the actual United earning rules (since United and Lufthansa were some of the initial founders of Star Alliance) or do you think that the CO earning rules would apply.
It is actually funny to see the huge variance in earning rules for European Carriers between United and Continental. Most fare classes where you earn only 50% EQM on CO are 100% EQM on United.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Odds of the programs being merged by March 2011 are low IMO.
