Booking Error-Need Help

Booked FLL-EWR for Wednesday evening, but meant to do it for Tuesday evening. Didn't even realize it until I got my TripAlert and realized my mistake. Called up the Elite Desk and the woman wanted upwards of $400 to change it even with 80+ seats open some FLL-EWR flights on Tuesday. Any suggestions?

If there is a flight on Tuesday inside the 24-hour window from your departure time on Wednesday you can SDC to it. If not, you are probably screwed. Booking a restricted ticket limits your flexibility in exchange for the lower price.

Looks like both evening flights have flights at exactly T-24, which means bad news, as according to a few other threads I've never seen anyone successfully SDC a flight exactly 24 hours in advance.

Hopefully he is on the 5:30 and can SDC to the 8:09 the night before.

I am booked on the 5:30 PM. I would prefer not to get into EWR at 11:30 at night but it may be my only option. Perhaps a kind agent will help me out and get me on the 5:30 tomorrow as a SDC. (If it is delayed a minute, then, technically, it is within 24 hours of my scheduled departure)

Good luck - as SDC does not operate off the 'delayed' flight time. Not sure then 'technically' is the right word there.

Managed to get an agent at the elite desk to put me on today's afternoon flight FLL-EWR. (not within 24 hour window) She did it for $25 after I explained the situation and even cleared me into first class! This is why I love CO^

Good for the OP but what the agent did was technically illegal and I'm sure she did not clear you into FC, the System probably did that since it was inside the 24 hour window for the flight.

Congrats ^

As mentioned, she technically broke the rules so don't submit a positive We Care for it as she'll probably get reprimanded.

That seems pretty speculative - has anyone here actually confirmed that an agent who goes 'above and beyond' gets reprimanded?

Maybe the agent's superiors will laud him or her based on using her discretion.

I know we feel like CO agents act like they have no flexibility, but I don't think we have the magic window to let us see what the reality is on the other side of the call.

I would think a confirmation would be rather difficult to acquire, but I've seen similar advice posted several times.

Let's bring this up the next time you-know-who regurgitates the line that CO agents are not able to do anything that's not strictly by the book. FWIW, I have had similar experiences, and that's why I keep flying CO.

It really depends on the agent. In the situation of needing to go a day later/earlier last minute I've had agents change me for free and others say they want hundreds of dollars

She did mention something about a weather waiver for Newark, but only applied for the 13th, and not the 14th, the day I was ticketed to travel. Perhaps, she worked her magic that way? And yes, I assume EUA just worked automatically since no one was standing by and many seats were open in F. I even did a random companion upgrade for a stranger at the airport
