Upgrade help

Hi there

I am travelling from GLA-EWR just before thanksgiving with my mum and disabled uncle, I travel to the states probably once a year so have a few miles tucked away.

I could only afford to book us in BF on the return leg so am wondering what would happen if i upgraded one ticket using miles and the fee? Could the other 2 passengers be on the upgrade list? Would they have a shot at getting upgraded or do I not bother as dont want 1 person to sit up front whilst the other 2 are in the back?

Any help from the people in the know would be fab!

If you upgrade one ticket using miles plus copay, then only that passenger will stand a chance for the upgrade. The other passengers will travel in economy as ticketed.

The upgrade standby list for international business-first market involves passengers who paid for the upgrade in some way. No free upgrades on CO.

How disabled is disabled? Do you think he would qualify to sit in an exit row or would it be obvious that he cannot.
GLA-EWR and return are on a 757-200; even though BF is very nice, the exit rows are not bad; In the past only gold and platinum elite could book them before the 24 hour mark but now they sell the "upgrade" to those seats.
If your uncle qualifies for exit row you may try that.
Just having those extra 7 inches of space and the fact that the seat in front of you cannot recline makes it very nice.
If you can do that, make sure you get the second exit row which is the reclining row (albeit only 3 degrees or so)
