Connection Question - Need Help!

Hello,

I am able to get a fairly cheap last second fair from Austin, Tx to Nassau for this weekend. It connects through Houston, IAH.

Instead of driving to Austin, it may be faster for me to just go straight to Houston for my flight out.

Will Continental allow me to board in Houston, if I "missed" my flight in Austin? Is there a charge for this? Etc?

Thanks!

Might be a little faster but if you miss your flight in Austin you will be in for a headache in IAH, small chance of being allowed to board.

Anyone know how far the Greyhound station is from IAH?

No.

Don't bother trying; it won't work.

It's against the rules and as a no-show in AUS your entire outbound itinerary will likely be xxxxd-out

Prohibited Practices - Continental strictly prohibits, and will hold the Travel Service Provider responsible for any losses due to Travel Service Provider's actions in violation of this Policy or the applicable Authorizing Agreement, including but not limited to Travel Service Provider's actions with respect to any Back Date Ticketing, Back-to-Back Ticketing, Churning, Duplicate Booking, Group Booking in violation of Article VI below, Hidden Cities/Points Beyond Ticketing, Impossible/Illogical Booking, No-Show, and Throwaway Ticketing, and any other Prohibited Practices outlined in the Contract of Carriage. In addition to other legal or equitable remedies available, Continental may charge Travel Service Provider and Travel Service Provider agrees to pay to Continental the fees described in Article VII for any such violation. For the avoidance of doubt, Travel Service Provider shall be responsible for its actions in violation of these policies, including booking violations, regardless of whether or not a ticket is issued.
Throwaway Ticketing - the booking and/or issuance and/or use of connecting and/or round-trip tickets for the purpose of one-way or partial travel only.

It's in the "heart" of downtown Houston. In fact, the IAH airport bus departs from the same building.

Isnt the greyhound station a few blocks south on Main from the Downtown Transit Center? Its not far, I think within walking distance though.

Anyways, its a moot point as this wouldnt work anyways.

Ah, I believe you are correct, sir. I've never ridden Greyhound but with this economy, who knows? I did drop a colleague off in downtown one day as I did not have enough time to drive him up to IAH for his flight. However, it appears he got on the wrong bus and wound up in Nuevo Laredo. I never heard from him again......

I never have either, but my daily commute has me on the rail from Rice to the TC (connecting to a bus), so I pass the Greyhound station every day.

OT: My daily commute involves carpooling to Rice, rail to the TC, bus to UH and then walking a quarter mile to my office. Four modes of transportation...

I believe the term for this is hidden-city ticketing.

Throw away typically refers to deliberately not flying an entire direction of travel. Hidden-city is when you attempt to use only part of a direction that was not included in the fare (e.g., in this case, the fare is AUS-NAS -- the connecting point is irrelevant).
