Seating Question on United

Quick question. I'm going to book a flight soon on CO.com from DFW-SYD. The SFO-SYD-LAX legs are on United metal. When I go to select my seats using the seat selector on Continental.com, it won't let me select seats for the United flights.

Is there any way around this? I really want to pick my seat in advance since this is a pretty long flight.

I'm Platinum on Continental if it matters. Thanks.

Use the eTicket number to get on the UA web page (then you have the UA PNR).

I had the same problem... I ended up calling United to get my seat assignments.

No, you will either have to pay for the buy-up or use your powers of persuasion.
