The High Cost Of A Stopover
I am trying to do a 10 day trip ..dates are totally flexible.
I see flights from MAN to GIG for under Ł700 in June July and August
All the flights go through EWR. I would like a 4 day stopover in EWR so I can take a side trip to PTY.
I have tried every posible way to do this i.e MAN -PTY-GIG-MAN
MAN-EWR-GIG with 4 day stopover so I can fit in (EWR- PTY-EWR) then return GIG-MAN. The problem is the flight excluding the side trip to panama shoots up to Ł1500 region.
How can I take advantage of the low MAN - GIG fares and have a stopover in EWR.
All help more than greatfully appreciated..
Also is there any search engine that can help me find the cheapest way of having a stopover if I am flexible on days

Have you tried routing through IAH instead of EWR? IAH is also closer to PTY, so an easier roundtrip in the middle of your journey.

You could do 3 separate tickets:
MAN-CCS on CO - $528usd
CCS - PTY rt on CM - $240usd
CCS-GIG rt $400usd on CM,JJ, TA, AV, PZ, or G3
That would wind up a little more than 700 pounds but not 1500.

The problem you're running in to is that the cheaper CO fares simply do not permit stopovers. Unless you manage to assemble another itinerary like described above you're pretty much stuck.

Thanks sbm12. It just seems crazy that the cost of stopping over seems so high.
I can do a trip from MAN to GIG and a trip from MAN to PTY for the same price as taking a stopover.. I suppose I am better to take 2 seperate trips and benefit from extra EQM
