If this gets delayed it will be a real break of faith with the CO elites.
It is really inexcusable not to do this at the gate if there are unclaimed e+ seats at the check in point. It is just an F-U to not do so.
That is the REAL aggravating part about this.
The IT integration issue we can all understand and excuse.

This can't be good. Looks like I'll be enjoying 28E for awhile longer in CO's legendary Y cabin. At this point I'm having a hard time getting an aisle seat  ...don't want to even dream of an upgrade "someday".

Only when there's no plane at the gate. :D

CO is actually not too bad about that sort of thing. DL and UA tend to do that a bit more.

Are you just flying them out of convenience for nonstops?

Well... they were cheaper... everything for this summer out of IAH on UA is astronomically priced. (I am not paying UA $400+ to fly to ORD on a Fri morn returning Mon night.). Another is one of the ANC sale runs at the end of July. The other was a 'convenience' flight for the fourth of July holiday. I was guessing that by July that something would be in place.... I LOOSE :o So I guess I will get what I paid for ;)

I'm serious though about not even able to get an aisle seat... no exaggeration there!

Today on united.com

Elite benefits on Continental

We're happy to announce that elite members will enjoy new seating benefits when flying on Continental:

# Elite Upgrades. When you book a Continental ticket on an eligible flight, enter your Mileage Plus number and you'll automatically be added to their upgrade waitlist. No certificates needed. If an upgrade seat becomes available for you, it's yours.

# Premium Seating. At any time from booking through check-in, you can request a window or aisle seat in the front of the Economy cabin. These benefits will start to roll out in mid 2010.

Still says mid 2010

CO's FAQ still says "mid-2010" across the board: https://www.continental.com/web/en-U...elite/FAQ.aspx

But if you dig into UA's FAQ...

Beginning in the second half of 2010, United Global Services® customers and Mileage Plus® 1K®, Premier Executive® and Premier® members will be able to request Elite Seating on Continental flights.

(emphasis mine)

This would suggest reciprocity is coming on or around July 1.

On or after, not on or around. December is in the second half of 2010.

O Ye of little faith

I'm a gambling man & I'll take the bet that we know much sooner

(and get the uncertain benefits)

I, too, think that it will happen before December. I was simply pointing out that the jump from "second half of 2010" to July 1, 2010 is an enormous leap and not one that I am willing to make as the former actually covers an entire six month span, not just the day that said span begins.

CO Insider has posted information about this elsewhere... "stretching the definition of mid-year" is not exiting news.

Unfortunately, it will not be June, and we will be communicating updated launch date information in the next few weeks. No doubt we'll be stretching the definition of mid-year!

:( well its a good thing things are pretty expensive right now... will hold off on any non-essential buying until things are firmed up. Trying to second guess what they're going to do and when is landing me in lovely seats like 28E. I'm pretty much booked up through the summer anyways.
