Please get these threads in one place to de-clutter this forum. It's excruciating to read through everyone's musings, speculation and general commentary about nonsense.
To those of you posting these threads: This is day one of a *proposed* merger, nothing is concrete, no one can answer your questions and no one knows what is going to happen tomorrow, a week from now, or if/when this merger closes. ENOUGH ALREADY

I like the separate threads for discreet topics. It makes it easier to find information/specualation on discrete issues. One omnibus thread becomes much to difficult to read through.

I understand every one has questions and concerns about what will happen to "this" or "that" or "something else" after the merger.
At least make one master thread. (there is already one supposedly master thread started by Heathrowguy.....so, everyone can post there).
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...er-thread.html
Invariably, every thread that starts on any topic somehow seems to end up with these topics:
1. E+ will be lost?
2. Will new United have "F" (three-class cabins)
3. Will SWU's follow CO or UA rules?
4. Will they have CR-1's?
5. CO has better customer service
6. UA has better customer service
7. UA ICC sucks
8. UA ICC does not suck
9. CO has bad IRROPS handling
10. UA has great IRROPS handling

Hey, I created a single thread that could be sticky'd into the "official" thread for all the speculation. I think that approach is best because, candidly, there will be NO answers forthcoming on many of the questions and issues for months. That's just how airline mergers work.

Pardon me for being obtuse... but just what has the OP said that comes close to a TOS violation?
In any case I am with the OP.... as a foreign *G I too am VERY interested in how this pans out... but seriously... HOW can anyone expect specific questions to be answered about arcane little aspects of the new CO/UA ?
Answer me that. WHO could have such details at this stage?

B) Adding another thread to the pile only adds to the problem about which the OP is complaining.
ETA: I have all the details at this stage. I'm just not sharing.

I agree - I am getting a headache looking at all these different threads and we (mods) need to consolidate.
How about consolidating onto one thread: Continental and United: Let's Fly Together by CO Insider? This site might grow but at least all the chat is in one site for a quick search.
At least the CO FTer should act like the gentlemen/women as we are with some stiff upper lip unlike others...

Agreed.
While there're many merger-related threads, it's not too much to mentally wade through them, especially since a merger is serious, major business. Requests to start a new forum/sub-forum belong in TalkBoard or move this thread there.

Deciding on a mileage run to reach 100K may be one of the more important decisions many of us make, before there's reliable information. I can do this in the summer, not in the fall. The speculation is fine with me, I'd rather read it by topic than all in one place.

Well, there won't be much in the way of "news" for some time to come. For all the financial and other information United and Continental may have shared to date in connection with reaching the merger agreement, the airlines are still required to act as arms-length competitors in the domestic marketplace until regulatory and shareholder consent for the proposed merger have been obtained. Therefore, even though there have been preliminary exchanges of ideas as to what a post-merger airline will look like, many of the specific details simply cannot be formalized, much less announced, until the shareholders have approved the deal and the regulators have granted at least tentative approval.
