I doubt that they reused a cup as they wouldn't run out and it would be faster to get a new one.

It should be done

On the other hand I think that coups should be re-used. That is by the same person. Why is it that every time you get a second drink (even the same drink) you are given a new cup?

Cups

People often take a glass of water from a tray in the galley and return it to the same tray from which they took it. If someone in the galley doesn't notice this happen, and the cup is more or less dry, it may be accidentally reused. You would not believe what customers do in the galley when one of us goes to answer a call light (which is often: "can you take this empty cup").

Sanitary reasons. You really don't want us handling 50 other PAX's trash before I handle your cup do you? I could just go through the cabin and let every other person lick my hand. That would be like picking up trash from the meals then coming back out for another drink service without washing our hands. YUCK!

Sorry, got carried away, but you can see it's a pet peeve of mine.

Well, I wouldn't say often but I guess it could happen. I keep a pretty close eye on that. If I didn't empty it, it's dirty. If it didn't come from a stack, it's dirty.

Ditto that after 22 yrs of flying. Airplanes are more often over-catered with tons of excess cups to handle their aggressive use. I prefer just having the can and sparing a cup.

Yeah, many will do that. I don't; it spreads germs. I'll just say, 'that's OK, let me grab you a new one'. Every once in a while someone is puzzled enough to ask why and I just tell them, we try to avoid handling trash while serving.

I'll pass on licking your hand.

Exactly! Then you surely wouldn't want said hand touching your cup after handling other PAX cups, and possibly their saliva. ^

(Would you at least kiss my ring?)
