Why 15k upgrade is waitlisted
Sorry, i dont understand. I tried to upgrade flight from EWR to SNA (one way)for 15,000 miles (booked in E class) and when it processed it said I am waitlisted? I am gold on CO. What gives. Flight is on 3/18/2010.

The appropriate fare bucket for an U/G must be available for it to clear. If not available at time of booking, then you are placed on a waitlist and, should that fare bucket for an FC U/G come available, you will be notified that you have gotten it.
The mere presence of FC seats for $$ purchase *does not* necessarily mean that an upgrade is available.

EWR-SNA flights quite often will sell out in the F cabin, since most flights are operated with 12F 737-700s (a handful of 738s with SFP now in the mix).
You are waitlisted for 'E' class for when seats in that fare basis open up, but until then, you will remain in your ticketed class of service. Be prepared to sit in Y... I have had numerous EWR-SNA flights where my mileage upgrade request was never confirmed, despite being #1 on the list when the door closed.
