sat in exit row for 1st time today
Flew on a 735 iah-dfw in 14D. There was no extra leg room. 14AF had no seat in front of them. I noticed row 12 in front of me had no more seat pitch either than standard coach. Is this the same on all CO 73's?

The 738s and 739s are different. 3 across in both exit rows, lots of extra pitch. The forward of the two does not recline, though.

I never understood on those aircrafts how come they don't all have extra leg room. How good of exit row seats can they be in an event if the whole aisle isn't cleared with extra leg room.

The metric for exit requirements on a plane is how long it takes to evacuate the plane's passengers with some number of exits out of service. If there are few enough passengers and enough exits that they don't need extra space in the row to get people out then it isn't a problem. In the case of the shorter 737s my guess is that the alternating feed of the two rows is considered equivalent or better to the 34"-ish of pitch for each of the two exit rows on the longer models. In other words, they don't need any extra pitch there because they can still get everyone off the plane under the time that the FAA established.

I shouldn't divulge this, but I'm feeling charitable. Row 12 has "limited" recline on the 738/739. Row 12 on the 735/73G has no recline. There aren't any 733s left in the CO fleet, AFAIK.

Sitting in 12A on the COEX ER145 tomorrow. Let me guess...added leg room but a seat cushion with a 1" width?

Continental still has a couple 737-300's in the fleet
Best legroom, bulkhead 737-800 and 737-900, and 737-500
737-700 not as much room in the bulkhead
