Heading To Kentucky

Heading down to Kentucky (Lexington) for some basketball in January - can't find any reward flights into and out of Lexington. Anybody please tell me some other major cities within driving distance 1 - 2 hours that I can fly into that star alliance serves direct from EWR / LGA / JFK.

Thanks

Those are the only ones I can think of within 1-2 hrs. of LEX. If you're willing to go to ~3 hrs. driving time you can look at BNA, TYS, IND, and CMH as well.

Best of luck!

Most people fly to either cvg or sdf. Both are in Kentucky and less than 1.5 hours from Lexington. Flights to/from LEX are limited but sometimes well priced. As between cvg and sdf, let price govern. BUT check rental car deals as well as airfare and go for the best package.

I believe the EWR-LEX flights are seasonal. As others have said, it's a quick and easy all-interstate drive from CVG or SDF, so those are definitely your best bets.

Wrong forum, as most CO FTers aren't from that area.

As for your search, US Airways out of ABE (if you live in NJ it is doable), transferring in CLT gets you into LEX. On the return, UA through ORD to ABE.

The direct flight, though, out of PHL gets you into CVG in 1.5 hours for $265.

Best CO deal: $174 (before taxes) PHL-CLE-SDF.

DL is the only non-stop from the NY area LGA-LEX everyday on CRJ (Comair). During Skyteam I had redeemed for this flight. Now you can just buy tix (always priced high) or redeem DL miles (usually opens up last minute for reward travel)
