Yes, split. If there aren't enough seats to accommodate both plats, neither will be UP'd. If you split and 1 is available at T-5 and another at T-4, they will clear separately.

We always split our PNR and there have been 4 flights this year where only 1 got an EUA.
From now on I'll purchase separate tix instead of splitting to see if that makes a difference.

It shouldn't make any difference. You can see either on co.com or the pda site where you are on the w/l. I just flew with Mrs. NJCommodore last week. Split at about 2 weeks out. Neither of us cleared on the out, I cleared on the return. Watched the whole thing on the blackberry, EUA worked as it should.

We've had too many situations where the first EUA clears and the second EUA clears a day or two later, typically one on T-5 and the orther on T-3 on VERY empty F cabins. Since ALL our itineraries are both of us and tomorrow's flight being segment 59 for the year, we have a fairly extensive base of data to work with.

The fact that it shouldn't make a difference doesn't mean that it doesn't make a difference. There are still residuals of data from the original PNR in the new PNR that was split off. While they can't be re-linked in the systems, there are cross references which don't exist if the PNR's are independent from the start. As an aside, there were RDM bonuses for a while last year based on bookings and we purchased sparate tickets to get the additonal RDM's and didn't have the non-simultaneous upgrade issues.
