EUA actually works!
No it's not sarcasm.
I am off to MIA this saturday. Had a reservation with 2 more people in my party. When I called to split the res a few days ago, agent told me on the phone that 1st was sold out ( I asked about buying up to 1st ).
Today, at the 5 day mark, I get the "you got upgraded" email. What gives?
I guess my mom will be a happy camper sitting up front ( I am giving her my boarding pass )
On a side note: My reservation on CO.com shows me in first, but I am not able to view or to chose a seat in first. Seat is still unassigned. Is this common?

The flight may have been sold out in first. Or the agent got it wrong. Or they thought you meant buying to M/B and those are inventory limited so there were no upgrades available. Or they looked for reward inventory and that wasn't available.
Glad you got the EUA. ^^

Thanks!
The agent def did not look for reward inventory, because she said I could have upgraded on the return for about $350. RT to MIA is running about $900 now on first.
I don't know about a buy up to M/B, but I did try to do a "phantom booking" (is that what you call that??) and it did indeed show 1st sold out for my flight.
I am just surprised that even if someone changed their plans and a seat became available, that seat was released 5 days prior into the EUA bucket.
