It's doubtful there will be much Star connecting traffic at DTW. The vast bulk of it will be O&D, so being in different terminals isn't much of an issue.

It is an issue if you want lounge access and don't want to buy an SC membership if you have a lifetime PC membership.

I also asked this question in DTW on 10/31 and got the same answer from a GA: Feb/March, 2010 CO will move to the North Terminal.

For those that take the evening DTW-IAH flight or the 5ish flight to EWR, the LH lounge is fantastic and open daily 3.5 hours before the LH flight. I'll take this lounge any day over a lame PC/RCC. PC membership or *G domestic or intl * itinerary gets you in.

hmm..good to know....unfortunately over the past year DL has removed/downgraded many flights to DTW so I'm being forced to route to ATL (LK...I'm coming home again...get the PC in IAH ready!!!)

Why is getting into the LH lounge on a domestic itinerary "in line with *A policies"? I thought you got into Star lounges only while on a same-day international ticket.

*G rules are a bit different than ST+ rules after reading the fine print.

*G gets access to any *G lounge on a same-day *A flight. The exceptions to this apply only to UA/US/CO *Gs and only at UA/US/CO clubs. Given that the LH lounge at DTW (ATL is another one that should work fine too) is a *G lounge that is not a US/UA/CO lounge, any *G on a *A flight can get in.

Very interesting. Although the way I read the rules on the Star Alliance website at http://www.staralliance.com/en/benef...access-policy/ (which haven't been updated to include CO), if you were on an international itinerary, you could not access the LH lounge at DTW, but you can do so on a domestic itinerary:

"United and US Airways [and Continental] Star Alliance Gold customers may only access the Red Carpet Club and US Airways Clubs [and President's Clubs] within the U.S. when travelling in conjunction with a Star Alliance international flight." (I added the bracketed, underlined language to include CO.)

You read them wrong. The paragraph you quoted clearly only covers RCCs, USACs and PC's. They are the exceptions to the rule that any *G can access any *G lounge when flying on any same-day *A flight.

Exactly....(unfortunately)...ah well, my first trip through EWR all on mainline coming up next week :D

So, What everyone is saying is that there is a *A club (Lufthansa) in North and domestic CO *A Gold can access it if flying say DTW-IAH on CO?

Too bad McNamara can't run a secure shuttle like they do at IAH. I see no reason why that can't happen.

I read that to mean that those are the exclusive clubs that you can use when you are travelling internationally as a *Gold. But you're right, I was reading it as if it said "may access only..." instead of "may only access".

So, the answer is, what? If we fly CO domestic out of DTW North, we can or cannot access the Lufthansa lounge??
