ITH Questions

Hey folks,

I'll be flying SFO-EWR-ITH-EWR-SFO this week and this is a new route for me, so I have a couple questions if you don't mind:

How is Continental Connection? The only regional I've flown is with CoEx, EWR-BDL-EWR and it was pretty lame. Flights out of terminal A, chronically delayed. I understand CC runs out of terminal C, right? And is this route typically delayed?

Thanks in advance for any pointers so I know what to expect.

The flight will be out of Terminal C from gates in the center pier.

Timeliness will depend on things like what ATC is doing that day and the weather more than anything else.

ETA: If you need suggestions on anything else in ITH feel free to ask. I spent a decent amount of time there once.

"Far above Cayuga's waters" or "Ithaca forever" ?

Great college town with lots of good places to eat, and the leaves are at, or just past peak. Great time to be there.

re: On Time to ITH, the poster doesn't indicate which flight they are on, but the only same day (not taking the redeye) conneciton shows going to ITH on the last fliught at 9:30 p.m. Depending on the wx and atc for the day, it is failry like that is may be delayed, but since it is the last flight of the night, it will likely operate. Also, coming back out, if they are on the 06:20 a.m. flight, it is more likely to go on time. Yes, connections will be in Terminal C, at the ends of the concourses (88-89, 98-99, 114-115)

Far above. And it is a great time to be there right now, though I heard that they already got their first snow of the season - rather early.

But is it good for grapes. a good frost (and a little snow i suppose) raises the sugar content. A little "wine trail" tasting trip is another good time to be in teh Finger Lakes region this time of year. But take one of the bus tours. Leave the driving to someone sober.

I tell my friends in Texas that there is a good reason for the cold weather. It keeps the cockroaches down......and the southerners out.

To stay on topic - the wx forecast for the week looks o.k. so perhaps their trip should be successful.

Thanks folks. I spent a few cold years there myself, and am looking forward to a trip down memory lane.

I'll be flying in on CO8754, leaving EWR at 8:00am and return on (the horribly early) CO8704 at 6:20am. Weather looks ok for next week.

Glad to hear I should be better off than on EWR-BDL - I've sat on the tarmac for hours on that one.

Thanks!

Coming off the red-eye, it looks like you'll have plenty of time to connect. And if the wx is good, you should be in good shape. It went yesterday on time. (no early flight n Sun) Welcome back and enjoy your stay. If it wasn't for the bad weather and high taxes, I'd have moved a long time ago.

Yeah, hopefully the 1:48 layover will be sufficient.

I loved my years in Ithaca, in particular the local music scene and all the great hiking, summer swimming, etc. This time I'll be lucky if I have a few hours to see the town, as I'm holed up at a conference, but I'll send everyone's regards to Big Red

One more question: on Continental Connection, will they let me take my standard smallish rollerboard on the plane, or will they make me gate check it?

Most likely gate check. Those overheads are tiny.

I didn't realize that there were so many alumni here with me on FT! I was just back up on campus two weeks ago doing engineering recruiting / interviewing, and as always, it was great to be back. Although I have to say, ever since I left in '03 to head south, things there went south... I mean they have Walmart in town & a Starbucks in Collegetown now!

One restaurant recommendation to less than recent grads - there's a new place on 13 called ZaZa's that I thought was really good (Italian).

I ate there a few years ago with a friend from Ithaca; it was good.

For those of you who were in Ithaca in the 90's or earlier, it is the old Video Ithaca store. You know, when you used to rent VHS.
