Moving IRROPS to *A?
Yesterday morning (Saturday) I was flying out of MDT, bound for CLE connection when there was a mechanical delay (by the way, getting up early on a Saturday for a 0630 flight just to have it delayed by mechanical really sucks)!
Anyway, it was clear that many were going to misconnect. GAs did a great job of of keeping foks informed and simply starting re-evaluating everyone's flights, starting with elites. Kudos, as I never even had to get out of my chair - they called me up to give me my two options and then re-booked me in F (where I was on second leg anyway).
Here's the interesting part - it became clear when I was at the counter that there wasn't many CO seats available to re-book/back-up most disconnects on. So, they started to move them to other carriers. And, first choice by agents was ... US. Several peiople were moved to US flights. Now, I suppose all other carriers could have been totally full, but I didn't even hear the GA's discussing any other airline when I was at the counter, and I was the first party re-booked. Have to admit, I was a little taken aback when they gave me a US flight as my other re-book option (thanks, but no thanks).
On a side note, CLE was like a ghost town when I did make it there around 0930. But, I did get to eat at the new Paninis!!
