EWR - NRT
Just saw some cheap fares to NRT for November/December and wanted to know anyones feedback on EWR-NRT in Economy? I have seen flights as low as $680(AI) netting 26,928 miles (with DQM) @ .025 a mile.
Also - What is a good amount of time to visit Tokyo?
Thanks for any help.

I went for 50 hours back in March of this year and had a PHENOMENAL time. There was plenty that I didn't get to see but I also saw a ton during the days that I was there.
I don't know if the cheap fare has a minimum stay requirement or not; that may affect things.

... with JTB
Print advertisements here in New York indicate that the fare is in conjuction with the JTB (Japan Tourist Board), a Yokoso fare.

Not much help for DEQM, though.

OK, then I recommend going at any time of the year and trying this out:

They even have a red wine spa where the little pool is filled with red wine! Talk about a hedonistic experience...

It is also incredibly easy to not do so. No, you won't be staying in a western chain branded hotel and it might not even earn points. But there are plenty of quite reasonable hotels at lower price points there.

Exactly! I spent under US$100 all-in at the "b" in Ikebukuro in August. Totally fine freshly renovated 3* hotel that's 3 minutes from the train station and steps from shops and restaurants. Try getting that in NYC.

I flew EWR-NRT in Y last June. It's a long flight in coach (it was considerably more comfortable flying back in J), but not the end of the world. Tokyo rocks and I can't wait to go back. There are mid-priced business hotels wherre you can get a small(!) room with private bath for about $100. I stayed at one called Shinkjuku Park or something like that (I think) practically under the Tokyo Hands department store in Shinjuku. It is very convenient for the Narita Express train back to the airport as well.

Maybe this warning isn't needed though, I guess FTers are pretty savvy when it comes to these things

We spent two weeks in Japan a while back with one week being exclusively in Tokyo. One can easily have a very busy week if they planned correctly. I dont think i would allocate more than 10 days to the area.
