Let's have a drink together and celebrate both springtime and the visit of our friends the Rippers from Hawaii, at an earlyish after-work drinks Do.
When: Monday, 14 September, 6.30PM-8PM
Where: Shangri La hotel's Blu Horizon bar (top floor)

I'll try to round up some locals who've enjoyed this already, so we can all have a fun catch-up.
Cheers,
BiziBB

Our flight from MEL gets to SYD at 5:40, so we'll be a bit late, if that's ok. I should have mentioned this when we were talking about it last night, BiziBB. We'll need to drop our bags at SOTP and book it over to the Rocks. If you think this isn't a practical drink DO given our schedule, let me know.

I would love to make this, but during the week is tricky for me.
Put me down as a slight possibility and I will see what I can do. I certainly would not make it there until at least 7pm, if I can make it at all

We should be sitting at a table by one of the windows; will have a yellow FlyerTalk luggage tag on the table so you know it's us. ^
Bump for anyone coming to Sydney next week - this would be a good place to unwind before dinner.
There is a hotel (Glenmore) with a rooftop outdoor dining area a few minutes down the street, if you want to eat with a terrific view right next door.

Bump - everyone in Sydney is very welcome.
Please reply and I'll ad your name.
The Rippers will be in later, so does anyone want to meet up fairly early?
I'll try to be there around 5PM opening time, in order to get a window seat.
This is a great venue and an excellent tradition of meeting here. I met my first local (and two or three US hometown) FTers here around 4yrs ago. ^

Bump; ten hours before drinks and I'm only on my way to work.
I hope that the Rippers had a terrific time in Melbourne; if you have your hire car until your afternoon flight, why not drive past the airport and on to a winery or two, just past it?
A retired doctor has a winery only a couple of km past MEL. If you have time, of course.
Looking forward to meeting UAL4Life.
Everyone, notice the later 6.30PM, not 5.30PM, start tonight.
Hopefully this makes an after-work drink possible for some.
Please add your intest below and I'll make sure to look out for you.
Cheers, BiziBB

UAL4life and myself should have warmed your seats sufficiently by then.
^^ to UAL4life for being the early bird!
I'm hopeful that we can get the left corner; it has the bridge view per the first pic in this thread, plus views to the left, across The Rocks and The Observatory.

Well, we're screwed over by DJ and stuck in MEL because they have downgauged the flight. Cheap fares get the boot. I'm guessing we will now be arriving on the flight that arrives at approx 7:30, but waiting for new BPs now. Looks like we won't make it.
If you think you will be there for a long time and it's still worth heading over, please leave a message for us at the Sheraton.
Raise your glasses in our honor, please.
We're now on DJ 873
