I have updated the list of possible attendees.

I have updated the dates to Friday, April 9 through Sunday, April 11. I believe that is what jumpgate and I intended.

There is a Hampton Inn in Abingdon, VA. I believe there is are also others in Bristol, Johnson City, and/or Kingsport, but I don't know of any other Hilton brands around TRI. I'm local, so I don't usually stay in hotels near me. (LOL)

For Marriott folks, there is a Courtyard by Marriott in Bristol, VA and the Marriott Meadowview Hotel and Conference Center in Kingsport, TN.

There is a Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Conference Center in Bristol, VA.

There is also the gorgeous Martha Washington Inn in Abingdon, VA.

Sounds like fun, but I'm already planning to visit the BBQ weekend of Memphis in May. Perhaps a tie in for next year?

TRI and MEM are about 10 hours' drive from each other. Not sure that would work!

gj83 Jan 26, 2010 7:16 pm

So what Hilton hotel are others going to stay at? Hopefully there will be a good Q2 promo since the Q1 will be over by then.

mhnadel Jan 28, 2010 9:02 am

I'm going to have to bow out on this, as I have a commitment in Boston that weekend.

jupper Jan 31, 2010 11:23 am

I won't be able to take off for the weekend in April, upper management sucks at time (expectation) management... :(

Jumpgate Feb 3, 2010 3:50 pm

Apologies for the absence

FT friends - I have updated the first post with the current attendee list.

I apologize to the community from the bottom of my heart for being absent from this thread after kicking this whole shebang off.

Without groveling too much, since starting this thread, I've had to relocate, fell victim to the economy, and had some woeful relationship issues. I've barely been on FT at all.

Sadly, I don't believe I'll be able to attend this DO (see previous comment re: the economy). I realize this is a major bummer seeing as this was partially my idea, and I take full responsibility.

That being said I am still planning on working with me4yankees on what would be possible and help her plan remotely. I am back now, so please stay tuned.

Apologies, and thank you.

kudzu Feb 3, 2010 4:37 pm

Sadly, we have to bow out of the TRI DO too *sigh*

An unexpected offer of a free 14-day cruise in April means that we'd be away at sea - sorry, just couldn't turn it down.

Jumpgate, glad to see you back on FT, and all best wishes!

Sorry you can't make it, kudzu and Jumpgate. :(

It looks like right now, the DO will be mostly Saturday, April 10, as I have a conference in Roanoke, VA, through Friday afternoon. So for Saturday, April 10, we will plan a group lunch, group dinner/drinks, and offer activity options for the afternoon. You are free to arrange small group activities for Friday evening or Sunday on your own.

If there are any other changes in your attendance status, please post here and we will try to be better about updating the thread. And thank you, Jumpgate, for assisting me in spite of the time you have had as of late.

coachrowsey Feb 3, 2010 9:40 pm

Jumpgate:
I'm very sorry to learn of all this, but glad you are back & wish you the best. Believe me I understand the economy thing.

I'm still hoping to make it.
