Any FTrs in Sydney in August up for drinks/dinner?

I'm in Sydney on business from 8 Aug until 4 Sept. Would be fun to meet any FTrs who might be around for dinner/drinks one evening after work or on one of the weekends.

We have reservations on Sunday 23 August at 6pm at the restaurant suggested by OzStamps:

Balkan
217 Oxford St
Darlinghurst NSW 2010
(02) 9331 7670‎

The reservation is under the name of "HORTON"

So far I have:
Redhead - yes
Bseller - yes
Ozstamps - Maybe
chchkiwi - yes
Downunder girl & Mini - Yes
Omnivore - No
Jages - Maybe

See you there!

Will be in SYD from 23-25 Aug and would love to meet up with you for drinks and/or dinner - and any other FTers who are available during those dates.

Thanks for starting this thread Redhead!!
HI chchkiwi!!! I arrive SYD on Friday morning, 21st August and leave on Monday, 24th. Would love to see everyone, although I might have plans on the Saturday nite. Either Friday or Sunday would work perfectly for me.

I hope we can pull something off, would be loads of fun!!

If something is organised I'll see if my plans allow me to join you. I'm currently visiting Sydney (suburbs) for most of August

haha, Friday & Sunday are the two that won't work for me, but I live here, so there's no real novelty factor.

I can do any of those dates. Right now it looks like Sunday 23rd has the most people available so let's pencil that in but we will see how other people might post.

I might be able to do something on Sunday, really depends on timing and my child care (taxi commitments ). So put me as a "maybe" for a Sunday FT meet up.

Would love to see you again chchkiwi .

Very vague maybes as I wanted to use a free Sheraton On Park night Sat 22 was they said no, so moved it to August 15, and now Margo has us in Hils district that night.

So I'll ask again re Sat 22nd for there or Westin.

At one point, SOTP was forcing a 2nite minimum for this Friday/Saturday nite combo due to a Football match, IIRC, As I had previously held paid ressies for both nites, they allowed me to make the conversion to free nite, but I can appreciate that if you hadn't had ressies in advance, it might not work.

Would be good to see you! It looks like the Sunday is going to work better, considering that chchkiwi doesn't arrive till then.

Slight change of plans in that I am now arriving SYD mid-afternoon on Saturday, 22nd Aug and departing Tuesday, the 25th. Anytime/day suits as I have no plans other than to enjoy Sydney!

The Sheraton stay took a bit of planning but they finally allowed 1 night free (weekend), 1 night points and 1 night paid. They wouldn't allow me to pay for two nights - go figure!

Look forward to catching up with you all.

Swapped Sheraton for later on - they would not do for 22nd.

OK .... how does lunch on Sunday suit y'all?

Have dealt with Dave bseller for years, and never met him, so catching up with chchkiwi again, and Redhead and any locals up for it sounds good to us.

I'll see what Ent Book coupons I have that work for a group, or if you are at Sheraton it is a short walk to Oxford Street and the legendary Balkan Seafood Grill, home to many a FT gathering over the years.

I took Randy Peterson there once, and we went over the road later at a famous Gay pub for another beer or two or three.

Glen - Thanks much for the offer of Sunday lunch, however, that won't work for me as I have previous plans.
I was thinking that perhaps a dinner on the "early" side might allow lots of folks to make it. Maybe something at/near 6ish?? Those who wish to stay out later can do so, those who have obligations can do so.

I hope that's a convenient and doable alternative, would be quite nice to meet some new faces and see some old friends, IMO.
