Dresden, Dec. 7 - 12, Drinks/dinner

I'll be in Dresden Sunday December 7 to Friday December 12, prior to taking the train to the FRA DO on Friday. I'd love to meet up one evening with any FTers who might be in DRS, for dinner or drinks. (Not Wednesday 10.12.08 though, as I'm attending a performance of Lohengrin at the Staatsoper. It lasts 4 1/2 hours and thus occupies the entire evening. )

I'm not sure if there are any FTers in Dresden, but I'd like to find out!

A bump, in case there are any FTers in Dresden who can join me for dinner/drinks.

I was able to attend a performance of JS Bach`s Christmas Oratorio in the Frauenkirche this evening. Interestingly, one of the soloists was The Evangelist.

I'm not in Dresden, but I was this summer. Enjoy your stay in this charming city.

Bundle up! I was in Dresden in November a couple of years ago and I was c-c-c-cold. Saw and H & M near the train station and bought a cap and scarf! But, I agree with SanDiego1K - it's a charming and fascinating town.

It is cold, but not bitterly cold like Toronto in the winter. I had a very pleasant day visiting the Art Gallery today (Gemldegalerie Alte Meister). Let me recommend the Hilton, which is right beside the Frauenkirche. As HH Gold, they upgraded me to their Executive Lounge. :-:

Hi,

Funny - we were at Lohengrin yesterday too - we loved it! Sorry we missed you there - we're now off to Düsseldorf. Hopefully will see you at the Brunch on Sunday.

Sorry I missed you. I loved Lohengrin too. Elsa von Brabant is unjustly accused of fratricide and prays for a saviour to protect her. With loud orchestrial accompanyment, Lohengrin appears. He has been sent by the Knights of the Holy Grail to right the wrongs of the world. Elsa swoons and agrees to marry him. Its like daytime television.

Im looking forward to seeing you again in FRA.

Sorry that i missed you - just found out about this thread. And I was home (I live about 500m away from the Frauenkirche) too. May be next time. Hope you enjoyed your stay in Dresden.
